The commitment of Maurizio Fondriest to the aid of children will continue in 2009 with a special project called Fondriest for Children. The champion from the Trentino, who this year could celebrate the twentieth anniversary of his victory at the World Championships in Renaix in 1988, supports two charity initiatives: the project Piccolo Fratello, promoted by the Fondazione Mediolanum (foundation) and the Fondazione Francesca Rava NPH Italia Onlus (foundation), and the AIL Associazione Italiana contro le Leucemie (Italian Association against Leukaemia).

“We thought of fundraising possibilities which take in the most people possible, not only passionate cyclists,” explains the champion. “Everybody who wants to help me can do so through any kind of initiative, as long as it promotes fundraising whose gathered money is fully contributed to Piccolo Fratello and the AIL. The idea is to organize an event day in my hometown Cles in order to coordinate all the activities which will be proposed.”
