On the occasion of the Sellaronda Bike Day, which took place on Sunday, June 24th 2012, the nearly 20.000 participants have proved that they haven't just athletic ambitions, but also a heart of gold. The idea to help people in need – in this case those hit by the destructive earthquake in North Italy – was born on www.facebook.com/VGardena. Val Gardena – Gröden Marketing has picked up the idea and involved also the other valleys around the Sella massif (Alta Badia, Val di Fassa and Arabba).

The common initiative themed "1 Pass – 1 Euro" has been launched in occasion of the Sellaronda Bike Day and has achieved big success. In the urns has been collected € 5.100,00 in total. The organizing committee has following doubled the amount, so that finally € 11.000,00 could be donated. The cheque has been handed over to the deputy mayor of Mirandola in occasion of the "Maratona dles Dolomites". This race took place on Sunday, July 1st, 2012.
